The mythological history of the state can be tracked down from the ancient days of Mahabharata and the Ramayana. The Haihaya dynasty ruled Chhattisgarh for six centuries during the 14th century.
Chhattisgarh was formed on 1st November 2000 by partitioning ten Chhattisgarhi and six Gondi speaking districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Chhattisgarh, 9th largest state of India by area, is the east central state in the country. It has Jharkhand and Uttar Pradesh to its north, Odisha to its east, Telangana to the South, Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra to its west.
